Week 5

I would definitely use Pinterest just to get ideas for making displays and using the cartoons I found on there about libraries and maybe share them on my blog.  The other one I thought I would use is YouTube.  You could do so many informative and fun skits for your patrons and I love the idea of interviewing your patrons so others in your community can see who all is using and having fun at your local library.  I can definitely see the usefulness of Facebook, if you have someone who likes to write about things happening in the library and your community.  It could take some time, but would definitely be an expanding advertising source. Seeing as I have never used any of these except for classes, the second question is hard for me to answer.  I would like to add that the shelfari site looks quite interesting and could be used as a personal or library site.  Great info in this last class.

Week 4

Marshall University Libraries

and a third:

Libraries around the world

http://web.stagram.com/n/worldlibraries/

The first two have all kinds of photos and comments about happenings in thier libraries or the promotion of things going to happen at their libraries and the third one has wonderful photos of some of the most majestic and grand libraries across the world.  What a great site!

Week 3

The link below shows you how to download Adobe Digital Editions free software that allows you to download e books from Chatham-Kent Public Library:

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsTr90uc6sQ&list=PL9C7893BFB57F59A7

It could be very helpful for downloading books from other libraries too. It is a very good step by step process with some minute details as far as things that need to be clicked at the bottom bar on the download site. I thought it was very good.

I thought Rhonda's choice for youtube was a really cute one and so helpful. Great job Rhonda---

Week 2

Well as you probably guessed I have been having trouble with my computer at home and so I'm now resigned to not being able to fix the problem immediately, so I have been given premission to finish this class on the computer here at work. I'm going to try to get this done in a complete manner, but in a very shortened time frame.

The two sites on pininterest that I really liked were:

http://www.pinterest.com/mgjsd/authors/

which is the pinterest site of Mary Grace Johnson.  She has listed a great list of authors who skype with classes and book clubs for FREE! Authors for all age groups. We did skype intereviews with Jasmine's mother and the author of  Cinder. It was really fun.

and

http://katiedavis.com/katie-davis/

which is a site of a young singer and bookwriter who has 13 adoptive children.  What a great site for other libraries to use and get ideas from.
I am going to add one site
which has videos on library skills.  This would be great for teaching young people those skills.

I looked at several blogs, Deb, Doris, Diane, just to name a few and everyone had wonderful sites. It is just too hard for me to pick a best, so I decided to just endorse them all.  Good pinning classmates!
